Question:
What is the difference between a Nutritionist and a Dietician?
— Michael Senteck
Answer:
So, no, it, it, so dieticians are certified and they are the ones that are allowed to be reimbursed by insurance. They are the ones that work in hospitals and they've gone through rigorous training, um, both on the job training as well as in classroom with nutritionists. There is no one certification for nutritionist. So I can be a nutritionist if I took a, if I just said I'm one, right? I know what nutrition's like, or if I took a 10 hour class to the other extreme where you got a PhD in nutritional biochemistry and you've been working for 35 years and, and uh, you know what you're doing, right? Um, so certified nutritional specialist is a, is if you wanna find a nutritionist that has credibility behind their name, that is something that was developed to try and an, to try and level the playing field in terms of, um, recognizing those that really have the credibility versus those that just put up a sign and say that they're a nutritionist. That is the difference. And so you gotta be buyer beware.
