Question:

Is the "Taste & Flavor Course" the first in a series of the Food Coach Academy and how many series involved in the entire FCA course curriculum?

— Theresa Eury

Answer:

Really good question and I get this question a lot because I intentionally made this course the Food Coach Academy. And I'll tell you why I made it in a second. And I made the Food Coach Academy because I knew what was missing in the nutrition world, having been a nutritionist for over 35 years is that we're not teaching the skills. So what if I just explained to you and had you read about driving a car and expected you to leave it at that and then I get mad at you 'cause you don't know how to drive the car. Well that's what we're doing. We're telling our clients, whomever we are, some of us, not all of us, you need to eat more fruits, you need to eat more vegetables. How come your weight's not budging? All of that kind of thing. And we haven't taught them how to change and make the skill-based. And so that's what Food Coach Academy is all about. There are three basic courses. There is taste and flavor, that's launching October 2nd. Then we have the kitchens. The kitchens is everything from how to set up your own kitchen into, and you take it again in a modular approach. You start with your fridge, then you go to your freezer, your countertop and your pantry and you totally redo your kitchen. You don't throw anything out, you just kind of use up what you have. And then you add these healthy ingredients in. Also, you're gonna learn how to build different types of teaching kitchens. And this is what I love. People are really inventive. You have the person with the pickup truck that has a garden bed in the back and he's giving out vegetables or you have a pod that is like one of these containers that all of a sudden is a teaching kitchen. Or you have these built-in teaching kitchens at hospitals. And so I'm going to go through in the, in the kitchens course how to build a community teaching kitchen and elementary school teaching kitchen and a a college teaching kitchen and on and on and on. So that's one of them. So we've got taste and flavor kitchens and the third one in the basics is the basics of eating and coaching. So even if you're a nutritionist and you know enough about nutrition, this is really a focus on eating and eating behaviors. So, and we focus on motivational interviewing because that is a game changer in Western medicine I have seen over and one of my specialties is I'm certified in value-based medicine. So I've been watching what's happening to our medical system implode and what we're seeing the doctors used to do, the nurses are now doing and now we have health coaches and I'm like we need food coaches because they really are the preventative health experts out there. They're not recommending and they're not acting as nutritionist, they're purely teaching someone how to cook, shop and plan their menu. Then there are 10 food courses. We've got fruit, vegetable, grains, fats and protein. We've got protein, animal source protein, plant source, dairy, beverages, sodium and salt. Each one is a super duper big dive off the diving board into how do you define it, how are we doing? Um, are there medi medical interactions? Is there medicine that you can't take when you're eating certain vegetables or fruit? Yeah, there are. Um, and what do you need to learn to do in the kitchen in order to eat more vegetables, eat more fruit, eat more whole grains, et cetera, et cetera. So that is what the Food Coach academy's all about. It's coming early in 2024 and I couldn't be more excited because like really, I'm gonna get really real right now. I've had three cancers in my life. I was given two weeks to live in my twenties and I know the power of food and I wanna share it with everybody because you have the power to change your life and you have the power to change your community and the planet by your food choices. My dream is to create a tribe of food coaches, I call 'em food warriors who are out there getting to those that are underserved and getting them back to their roots, their cultural heritage, bringing back cooking because I think that's going to heal the world in a way that we really need right now. Good question Theresa.
