Question:

Do you find an Instant Pot to be useful for WFPB low SOS cooking?

— Charlyn Black

Answer:

So I'm laughing because several years ago I had to have an Instapot and Patrick, who is on this, uh, event with us, knows that I, I may have a tendency to be slightly technologically challenged. And every time I use the Instapot, I felt like I was landing a helicopter. And there was one thing that I made with it, and my family loved it. And it was pasta. It was 32 ounces of water, 32 ounces of pasta sauce, and a pound of pasta. And it cooked up beautifully. But I found that I didn't really enjoy that. Now, chef Fran cooks wonderful bean dishes, wonderful grain dishes. She makes overnight oats in hers. So if you are exploring whole food plant-based, and you are looking for, uh, an apparatus that will help you in that way, then I think an Instapot is great. I do love my, um, uh, rice cooker, and I use that a lot for cooking rice. And then I always tell my rice cooker, you're having an identity crisis today, because today you're cooking beans. So I also cook beans in my rice cooker, and it's much easier to use for me than an Instapot. So if you wanna get an Instapot, you know, now they're on sale everywhere. Uh, many, many people seem to love them. Uh, the Instapot just wasn't for me, and I gave it away. I gave it away to a friend who whole food plant-based mother of five lives in Connecticut, and, um, has an organization called Plant-based Connecticut. So, um, there you have it. If you're gonna get it, I hope you enjoy it.
