Question
Laura Crabtree Hollenbeck
My beloved Peugeot pepper grinder (25 yrs) seems to have trapped moisture. Is there a way to save it or is it time to let it go?
Answer
I'd probably go the rice route if I were you. Anytime you're finding moisture that's trapped into things, you might wanna just try it, touch a little bit of dried white rice, put it into, you know, they, they come off the top and put the rice into it, let it sit. Um, you know, probably for a couple days, uh, empty of everything else and just have the white rice, um, in there. It could probably be brown rice if that's what you have as well too. Leave it in there for a couple days, then open it up and dump the whole rice all the way out. That should be able to help get a lot of that moisture out of there. Um, that's a bummer that that's happened. I'm surprised like maybe somebody was washing it or something that got in there. Um, but that's probably the best way to be, be able to get the moisture out of there because the dry rice will actually help to absorb, just like, I dunno if you've ever dropped your phone in the water or something like that, they always tell you to pack it in rice in a baggie. It's the same concept, just you're putting it inside the grinder instead. So that's probably what I would recommend for you Laura.
