Question

What size cutting board do you recommend as “optimum”?
Answer
So if you can see where my finger is right now, this is a plexiglass cutting board that I have over the counter, and it is 18 by 36 and it's gigantic. And I keep it here because I want protection for my countertops, but it also works really well. Uh, it's not my favorite. I really do enjoy something of this size, and I'm going to say that this is probably 14 by 10 or 12, and that fits well. The other thing is that, uh, I'm on the road a lot, uh, teaching cooking classes, and I have to think in very pragmatic ways of how I'm going to transport things. So this fits very well into my little wagon, uh, and or my little suitcase that I travel with. So, um, if you're making dinner for, you know, two, four or six people, this should be absolutely fine for you. Something too big. Uh, I often hear from older adults who will buy a beautiful big, gigantic cutting board and it becomes too much of a monstrosity to lift and clean. So there are some other variables to also think about. So if you see a sale on a cutting board and it's not, uh, you know, exorbitantly expensive, you might want to, uh, pick it up and see if you like it. Uh, because sometimes you like to cut, uh, different things on different cutting boards.
