Question:

Regarding reheating cooked grains, guide is to reheat to 165 degrees. How do we know what that is without a thermometer? Till it simmers for x number of minutes?

— Rosie AIELLO

Answer:

It wouldn't, uh, you, you wouldn't really have a set number of time or minutes to be be able to simmer with it. I think the best answer for that is to get a thermometer. Um, you know, thermometers are pretty cheap. They're like $4 to be able to have one. Um, you know, especially when you're reheating things like grains, it's also a good idea to make sure that you're checking that they're at the right temperature for it. Um, but at 165 degrees you can usually feel that pretty well with your finger. If it feels pretty hot with your finger, you know, it's gonna be um, you know, at a certain temperature. But a thermometer is definitely the best way to be able to make that happen, Rosie. So, um, you can just get, uh, you know, they have like just the, the metal ones, which just the tip that you can put into it is probably the one that most chefs use. Um, but they have all kinds of fancier ones that are digital and all kind of other, uh, case uses for those. But getting the thermometer to be able to get it to the 165 degrees, if that's exactly what you're looking for, is definitely your best case scenario.
