Question:

I just got into sourdough cooking. Is this acceptable for the FOK diet?

— Catherine Hardie

Answer:

So, um, it can be is the short answer. Um, you know, so depending on what you're doing in your sourdoughs, right? So you're, uh, as long as you're keeping the ingredients, um, to a whole, right, uh, you should be fine. So you can do a whole grain sourdough, um, is basically what I'm getting at. So instead of using a white flour, you wanna use a, a whole grain instead. Um, and if your mother, the actual start for your sourdough is not a whole grain, don't worry about that, just started feeding it with a whole grain and it will become a whole grain sourdough starter. So, uh, so yeah, basically you can, uh, do what you were doing before. Um, the oil, uh, some people will put oil to be able to coat the outside of their, their dough on, you know, the dough balls. Um, you know, and that's probably kind of a, you know, that and the whole grains are kind of the areas that you have to watch out for trying to keep dough, forks over nose diet. Um, but we're not talking about putting like, you know, lots and lots of oil on the outside of that to not get it to stick. Um, and there are other ways to be able to get around the oil on the outside as well too. Um, uh, but the biggest part is just keeping it a whole grain instead of a white flour.
