Question:

Can you share flavour profile ideas to transform sweet root veg into more savoury, nonsweet dishes?

— Deborah Lloyd

Answer:

Absolutely. Have a great question. spices like cumin coriander fennel seed Mustard Seed Sage mustard powder. Let's see. What else am I looking at over here? Chili flakes certainly black pepper. All spice spices like that are ingredients to me that automatically kind of bring us a little bit more towards the Savory side as opposed to Cinnamon nutmeg which take us more towards the sweeter side and again sort of back to point. I was making earlier maybe that's just sort of our perception and taste memory that's telling us that this is sweet. And but those slightly spicy spices and cumin coriander, especially fennel seed you most people know in my favorite thing and black pepper are really great ways to add that hint of spice and to draw you into that savory and then fresh herbs at the end that parsley over the top just large pieces of parsley crushed with hands and and torn over is a really great way also to freshen that sweetness up and sort of bring it back to life and live in Italy. So There you go.
