Question:

Can you share some suggestions for how to best keep cut fruit?

— Diane Kirschner

Answer:

I love to batch cook. So I batch cook grains and beans and I clean my greens and and cook them and so on. There are some things that keep better than others. If you are probably have seen when you cut some fruit, even whether it's an apple, which is a hard fruit or a peach, which is a soft fruit, and I've got some peaches here that I got this morning at the farmer's market, they are going to brown. You can help that browning. You can diminish it by again sprinkling it with some citrus juice. You can use lemon lime, even orange juice. Um, peaches are going to soften. And I tell you, I'm very aware of the fact I love peaches and I've been getting these peaches at the farmer's market. My daughter brought me some right off a tree from an orchard and the ones in the supermarket are different. So you wanna pay attention to what your peach feels like before you start. So Diane, maybe when you make your fruit salad, you wanna keep some of the softer fruit, like raspberries and peaches out of it and then just add it in when you're ready.
