Question:
I like to use the convection setting on my microwave for baking so the kitchen is less hot. I reduce the temperature by 25 degrees but the results are inconsistent. Advice?
— Cathy Chapman
Answer:
I didn't know, I don't know about a microwave that has a convection setting. How interesting. So your microwave bakes as well. Um, Kathy, you really, and this applies to everyone and it applies to me with a, with a relatively new oven, you have to spend time getting used to your oven and getting to know it. I have oven thermometers, one in there, two in my big oven, and I have a convection setting on both. I have learned that on the Breville, the sweet spot for three 50 is 330 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not 100% clear yet on my big oven, I think it's 3 35, but there's just no way around it. I've even talked to GE about it and it sounds like they don't know either. In a professional kitchen, we are taught to lower the temperature in a convection oven, 25 or 50 degrees depending on the particular oven. And those ovens are big and commercial.
