Question:
Do you have a mandolin recommendation?
— Luann Cronican
Answer:
the Japanese mandolin. I have three of these but I don't need three of them. Just had them for various uses and bought them for catering events or large-scale dinners that I was doing. These are easily found within shops in Chinatown Asian markets. They're also of course available online. They are far less expensive than the French mandolin, which is a product that I simply just do not recommend. Like I've just never been a fan of the French mandolin the big metal contraction that looks like somebody was like looking at the guillotine. It was like, oh, hey I got some potatoes at home. Yeah like It's just it's just overdone and it never stays sharp and you cut the crap out of yourself. That's the one thing about a mandolin like you will they don't tell you this on the box. They do say to be careful and they add a little guide to it. But it's like I hope you like fingertips in your food because yes, you're going to cut yourself until you get very good at mandolin. And when you are mandolin anything that is all that you are doing you are not no one is talking to you. Nothing is in your mind. You are meditating solely upon the mandolin and the job at hand otherwise I hope you like fingertips. Sorry to be crass, but I don't make a crew.
