Question:
When did using oil in every dish start? Every cooking show I watch on tv has so much oil. I'm oil free now and love it. When will chefs on tv learn about this way to cook? Do you think oil free cooking will become mainstream?
— Janet Pearson
Answer:
So perhaps some of
you follow Tabitha Brown the sensation
of the vegan world who has
over a million followers on her social
media and she has a clothing line at Target
and now she's going to have the first Vegan
Cooking Show on the Food Network.
She cooks with a lot of oil and a lot
of processed food.
so
I don't know about the answer to that.
I always think that many of the plant-based no
oil chefs who I know should have their own cooking
shows. I think part of our role is to
be a beacon and a voice in this community so that
we can let people know how delicious food can
be.
For example, I happen to love Lydia Bastianich. I'm
enchanted with the way that she cooks and
her wonderful stories about her and her mom.
Um, but she uses a lot of oil.
The other thing that you have to remember is that a lot of these cooking shows
are supported by olive oil
companies. So, of course, you know,
you don't see the you don't see the
kale Council doing commercials on PBS
or whatever. So keep on
fighting the good no oil fight and
you know stick with
like-minded people because I think in the end we are
going to be a really really healthy group.
We might be a small group, but we're gonna be a really healthy group and
I really appreciate your insights Janet because this is
one of the questions that I think about all of the time, so,
thank you very much.
