Question:

Can you recommend a good knife for the inexperienced cook?

— Karen LaBianca

Answer:

A sharp one. That's what I always tell people. It's the best knife as a sharp knife. Really nice are individual. Right? So go to a place like I'd recommend before where if you can go to a place and actually hold a knife is a great thing to do because you want to feel how it holds in your hand. I was like to recommend a Full Tang Blade. So you want the blade to go all the way through the handle you can typically see that because you'll see the metal go actually through the entire handle as well. That way, you know when you're chopping with it the knife or the handles never going to break off from the knife as well, too. There are Thousands of different kinds of knives out there and every knife is definitely got a little bit different thing to it. You know, it doesn't have to be a $600 knife, you know, that's kind of ridiculous for in an experienced cook and you know, like just a standard, you know. A standard knife that people would use in an experience kitchen typically aren't gonna run more than 60 to 70 dollars right at the the standard knife and that's like thinking like woostoff Classics and stuff like that or aren't gonna be, you know, too much more than that, but there are other ones that are like $30 knives that are gonna work just as great the important part is you keep it sharp, right? So the Sharpie your blade is the better it's going to be for you the more you're gonna be able to get through things and they're not gonna slide off of the thing you're trying to cut so I'm not gonna give you a specific knife because again to everybody's hand feels a little bit different. So try a couple out in your hand and see what works best for you. And don't feel like you have to buy a super duper expensive knife, you know, you don't have to if you're inexperienced. You shouldn't be spending $100 on the knife or more than that, you know starting out with something. That's 30 dollars is totally fine. Just make sure that it's the, you know, try to keep it where the the handle is also made of the same metal that's going through the blade. So it's all one piece. It's a great way to be able to start out.
