Recipes > Orange-Oat Smoothie
This refreshing orange smoothie is a great way to use up leftover oats and oranges. Just make sure you have a high-speed blender, such as a Blendtec or Vitamix.

Steps
Method
To prepare the smoothie, place everything into a high-powered blender* and blend until very smooth.
Note: This recipe uses the orange with the peel, therefore it’s best to buy organic oranges, if you can. Also, wash the orange well before cutting. The peel adds an incredible boost of flavor that is balanced by the oats.
Garnish with fresh cinnamon, if desired.

*This recipe will not work the same if you use a regular powered blender. Trust us, we have tried it. With a regular blender the ingredients do not come out smooth and silky—they come out sort of chunky and chewy.
**Tangerines work well, too.

man is this smoothie yummy. I make up a HUGE pot of steel cut oats every Sunday to get me through the week and when I get bored w/oatmeal I switch to this smoothie. Even my picky little kids love this one. If you don't have any oranges on hand, I recommend trying it with banana or mango. Can also sub raisins or agave for the dates. Figs work great too. The oat + almond milk (or coconut milk) is just a great base for pretty much any flavor you want. Thanks for this recipe!!
