Rouxbe’s Partnership w/ Trilogy Health Services Brings World Class Culinary Training to 108 Campus Kitchens

In late 2017, Trilogy Health Services launched a partnership with the Rouxbe Online Culinary School to create a new Culinary Apprenticeship Training Program. The goals: to upskill their culinary teams and enhance the dining experience for residents.

“Rouxbe has been an amazing partner to work with,” says Landon Nicholson, Director of Customer Service Education & Strategy. “The content is world-class, and our culinary teams can’t get enough of it. Our cooks love the web-based interface, the beautiful instructional videos and the learning components like the flashcards and practice quizzes. All of these elements come together in a way that is easy to access, fun to learn and exciting to practice in our campuses.”

In this unique program, apprentice cooks engage in Rouxbe’s online cooking program independently complete a variety of automated assessments and then demonstrate their skills to Trilogy chef supervisors. Free from the burden of coordinating and conducting multiple trainings per week, chef supervisors can focus on running an efficient kitchen. They are only occasionally needed to grade the cooks’ skills during demonstrations.

The training is currently available to a select number of Trilogy users for testing and feedback. It is expected that the full culinary apprenticeship program will be rolled out to all campuses this Spring. Landon is confident that supporting Trilogy’s teams in this way will not only improve staff morale, it will “ultimately lead to our being the ‘Best in the Midwest’ for senior care.”

Ken Rubin, Rouxbe’s Chief Culinary Officer commends Trilogy Health Services for showing “a true commitment to supporting their culinary teams with the Rouxbe Training Program. The residents who depend on quality food and dining experiences will undoubtedly find that the increased training and attention to culinary competencies will result in more delicious and healthful meals. Furthermore, the development of the culinary team will have a positive and lasting impact on staff morale and retention.”

Todd Schmiedeler, Senior Vice President, Foundation & Workforce Development at Trilogy agrees. “Rouxbe and Trilogy Health Services are natural partners,” he says, “because we share the values of high customer service standards, an employee-first culture, and innovation that produces unparalleled results.”
