Director of Culinary Media / Voice of Rouxbe

Dawn is the Co-Founder of Rouxbe and culinary instructor with more than 15 years of professional food and beverage experience. Dawn leads the production team at Rouxbe. more

Dawn is also the friendly voice whose narrative brings Rouxbe's step-by-step instructional cooking videos to life

She graduated at the top of her class from the Pacific Culinary Institute in Vancouver where she later became a culinary instructor. 

Prior to Rouxbe, she co-owned and operated a successful film catering company where she planned menus and cooked for over 225,000 cast and crew.

Tony has over 20 years of professional cooking experience and has been teaching as a culinary chef instructor since 1993. more

Co-owner of the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver - a unique professional chef training school - Tony is committed to inspiring and empowering students with the skills and confidence necessary for success

Having grown up in a family where food was life, Tony is driven by the Mediterranean's intense food culture. He also teaches basic cooking fundamentals to passionate, at-home cooks in his foodie classes.

Kimberley-slobodian

Kimberley Slobodian

Co-Producer & Writer

Kimberley attended professional culinary and pastry school in 2006 and graduated with honors. Prior to that, she studied pastry and assisted classes at L'Academie de Cuisine in Maryland, USA. more

Kimberley's primary role is to oversee the media production relating to Rouxbe's Cooking School. She is also responsible for writing pre- and post-production for all of Rouxbe's video content, testing recipes, and compiling research

In 2006, she launched her own culinary and pastry blog called sum.ptuo.us. Her writing skills, attention to detail, and love for cooking comes across in every video that our users see.

Christophe brings 30 years of professional cooking experience to the Rouxbe e-learning team. He has also been a professional chef instructor since 1998. more

Co-Owner of the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver - a unique professional chef training school, Christophe is passionate about teaching and is dedicated to creating the ultimate learning experience for all of his students

When he's not in the classroom, Christophe owns and operates a successful catering company.

Paul brings 18 years experience building consumer and educational software and Internet businesses. Most recently Paul was co-founder and Vice President of Products and Marketing at Avvo, the number 1 lawyer rating website with over 2 million visitors per month. In this role, Paul raised $13 million through two rounds of venture capital funding, conceived and drove the product vision, and led the company’s marketing efforts to both consumers and the legal industry. more

Prior to Avvo Paul served as Senior Director of New Product Marketing at Classmates Online, where he led a team that built and launched several new product lines to Classmates’ 38 million members. Paul also served as Vice President and General Manager at venture-backed Apex Learning, which quickly became the leading provider of online learning courses and services to the K-12 market. Prior to Apex Learning, Paul held several management roles during 7 years at Microsoft, including Group Marketing Manager for its kids educational software group. Paul has also consulted for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s education division, as well as several early stage technology companies

Paul holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from Stanford University. An avid hockey fan, Paul lives in Seattle with his wife, son, and twin daughters.

Joe started cooking when he was 13 and has cooked at several four- and five-star hotels in all areas of the kitchen. more

Joe is a serial entrepreneur, having come from a family of successful entrepreneurs. He has founded three successful business ventures over the past 15 years. Joe has a unique ability to assemble top talent, carve out new business models and execute well thought out business plans

Prior to Rouxbe, he and Rouxbe Co-Founder Dawn Thomas, owned a specialized mobile film catering operation, which they built from the ground up and served over 250,000 cast and crew members.

Steve Ellis

Producer

Steve is a veteran of Vancouver's bustling film industry. He manages the day-to-day operations at Rouxbe, so we can keep the cameras rolling. more

In addition to his production and operational roles at Rouxbe, Steve oversees Rouxbe's affiliate program and social media efforts, managing relationships with food bloggers and publishers from around the world. He also helps develop and implement strategic plans, including tracking mechanisms and metrics that ensure Rouxbe stays on course and ahead of other major players in the food space.

Patrick-britton

Patrick Britton

Director of Post Production

Patrick is the post-production wizard and operational guru. He has the enormous responsibility of Rouxbe's post-production workflow, moving digital media through the picture and sound editing process to final deployment. more

Patrick has completed over 50 short and feature length films, including work for Disney and Relic Entertainment. His work has both screened and won awards at multiple international festivals, and has been broadcast in more than twenty countries.

Daniela-tovar

Daniela Tovar

Media Production Editor and Camera Operator

Daniela is passionate about the creation process, which makes her naturally innovative and highly creative. more

Prior to graduating from Film Production, Daniela worked as a Licensed Architect (she swears this is what gives her clarity of mind). She also co-founded the architectural firm, The Random Protocol

At Rouxbe, Daniela is involved in both production as Camera Operator, and post production, as a Media Editor. Her experience in filmmaking and editing includes TV, documentaries, fiction and commercial endeavors

Currently based in Vancouver, B.C. she's working towards world domination.

Jenn-strom

Jenn Strom

Media Production Editor

Jenn is one of the editors at Rouxbe that is responsible for bringing the instructional cooking videos to life. more

She is uniquely passionate about creating high-quality content that brings value to others, and has spent a great deal of her career working on e-learning related multi-media projects

Although Jenn spends much of her time at Rouxbe focusing on an editorial role, Jenn's qualifications cover virtually all aspects of filmmaking from pre- to post-production, including project management, scriptwriting, camera operation, direction, sound recording, set, editing (video and sound), video compression and more.

Jenny Mendoza Guzman

Editor

Jenny is an accomplished editor having worked for the past two years on work assignments for the Discovery Channel, including National Geographic. more

She was born and raised in Morelia, Mexico and earned her BA in Communications Science from the Universidad Latina de America. She came to Vancouver to study editing and cinematography at the Vancouver Film School

As a new mom, Jenny enjoys the challenge of working on her professional passion, and figuring out how to raise a child. She is excited to be a part of the Rouxbe team and loves the culinary challenge.

Eric is one of the developers responsible for coding Rouxbe's website and for bringing Rouxbe's vision to life on the web. more

This includes building and overseeing the complex back-end database and server infrastructure that is required to ensure our deployment architecture continues to provide seamless service to our customers.

Jo Hund

Senior Applications Developer

As a software developer, Jo is responsible for architecting and building out the partner business model and supporting intelligence and analytics' engine. more

He does all of this using his web application environment of choice: Ruby on Rails

Jo has been a technical entrepreneur since 1996 and holds an engineering degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe, Germany

Rouxbe is a perfect fit for Jo's interest in bringing people together over great meals, while making a difference through the Rouxbe for Life program.

In over a decade of working on the web, he has had a distinguished career as a designer, entrepreneur, and technologist. He has been honored with awards ranging from being named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine in 2006 to BusinessWeek's Top 50 Leaders for 2005 and MIT Technology Review's "TR 35" award for technology innovators under 35. He has been featured in interviews and articles by over 100 publications and broadcasters including the Wall Street Journal, the BBC, The New York Times, CNN, the Financial Times and has appeared on the cover of Newsweek magazine

Butterfield graduated from the Universities of Victoria and Cambridge, with degrees in philosophy and retains academic interests in cognitive science, the history and philosophy of science, and economics. He lives in San Francisco.

Prior to Flickr, Jason was the original founder and president of Gradfinder.com, which was acquired by HighWired. Previous to that, he worked at Communicate.com consulting to fortune 500 companies and founded his first company called Matrix Internet Productions in 1996.

Meredith has over 15 years of marketing experience, having worked for high-profile firms such as Gardner, Geary, Coll & Young, J. Walter Thompson and Wieden & Kennedy. more

Her clients are known worldwide and include Sprint Telecommunications, Restoration Hardware, and Nike

Most recently, she spent five years implementing and managing branding and marketing strategies for Nike U.S. in the apparel and women's categories. In May of 2006, she began her own consulting firm, Chase Marketing. She was promptly hired by Nike to launch a new category giving her responsibility over developing the consumer profile, positioning, advertising and marketing

Meredith brings with her a range of skills that include all areas of marketing: advertising, creative analysis, developing marketing strategies, online strategies, positioning, and branding

The passion and dedication she shows her two daughters is reflected in the enthusiasm she brings to her clients. She looks forward to making Rouxbe a household name, in exchange for a boost to her own culinary skills, of course.

Rick was the Vice President of Brand Communications for Nike and brings a wealth of marketing and branding experience to the Rouxbe Team. more

As VP, he was responsible for strategic development and management of global public relations, business media and investor relations

Rick Anguilla is now a principal in the firm, Guidance Counsel, which provides strategic capital market and brand communications counseling to public and private company clients. He works one-on-one with clients to develop an integrated communications platform that addresses clients' multiple audiences including consumers, investors, media, customers and employees.

Scott Staff is the Director of Business Development at Perkins Coie, a Seattle-based law firm, the largest in the Northwest. more

In his current capacity, Scott identifies strategic, new business opportunities that could add significant value to the firm and/or its clients. He works closely with selected partners in the development and execution of business development strategy and has oversight of the firm's client service teams and industry teams programs

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Scott was the Chief Development Officer at Lewis & Clark College and Law School where he played a leadership role in raising over $150M. He has also been instrumental in raising millions of dollars for both private and non-profit organizations. Scott was previously a member of the Board of Directors at Fat Earth, Inc. and earlier in his career was the National Sales Manager for a graphic arts and publishing company.

Chris began his career as a corporate lawyer with Gray Cary in Palo Alto in 1993, advising technology startups in all aspects of their business. Since then, he has worked with over 35 technology start-ups

Specifically related to media companies, Chris incorporated Atom Films from inception through $50M in private financing, several acquisitions and its ultimate sale to Shockwave. He also incorporated MXG Media Inc, a Gen Y-targeted E-magalog (and destination site) from inception through $40M in private financing and its ultimate sale to USA Interactive. He also represents LearnLive Technologies Inc., an e-learning company targeted initially at the CPE Market.

Warren is an Emmy award-winning film and television producer with more than 30 years experience in the film industry. more

He has extensive experience in educational video-based programming, having played a key role in the development of distance learning programs in Canada. He also has more than 35 feature film and television credits and manages projects for American Studios and major television networks with budgets up to $100M

In 2004, Warren was awarded an "Emmy" for his producing role in "Door to Door" (William H. Macy).
