Question:

Are tomatoes always seeded? Why? Is it because the seeds/interior parts have no nutritional value?

— Rosie AIELLO

Answer:

Actually, no, uh, these seeds for most, uh, plants actually have a lot of nutritional value in them. Um, and you can find tomatoes that are seedless just like a watermelon. Um, they've been crafted basically, uh, by, by people to be able to do that. Now naturally tomatoes do have seeds. It's how they, you know, populate more. But, um, they have genetically modified tomatoes to have no seeds in them as well. And to be able to have more kind of meat on the inside instead of the kind of juicy, uh, seed part on the inside. They do use a lot of those for doing different sauces for tomato pastes as well, um, to be able to make sure that there aren't any seeds in there. So you definitely can get seedless tomatoes. They're a little harder to find, uh, at your standard grocery store, but they do exist. Um, I traditionally, you know, don't mind the seeds as much if you're looking for something just to be able to get rid of those, you can always cut the tomato in half or quarter and then remove the intersection if you want to. You can always make something else out of it as well too. Um, but there is definitely nutritional value in those seeds. Uh, most seeds actually have a pretty high nutritional value in them as well.
