Question:

Besides a tomato plant, and some herbs, which I already have, can you recommend anything else that would be work well in a small sunny space?
— Victoria Mulligan
Answer:
Yeah, so I love to garden. I have a pretty big garden spot and I think the biggest thing I always recommend to people is grow what you eat a lot of, right? So if you are a big fan of basil, grow a lot of basil plants. Um, if you know that you're going to eat rosemary quite regularly, buy a rosemary plant to be able to, you know, have it and harvest it as you need. Um, you know, tomato plant's, great tomatoes get really big though most of the time. So, uh, a tomato plant might not be the best for, um, you know, the terrace garden depending on how big your terrace is. If, if it's pretty big, that's great, go for it. Uh, I, you know, have more tomato plants than I can count at the moment. Um, and uh, uh, I love getting all the variety of tomatoes from them. Um, but yeah, the biggest thing I would say is plant what you eat most of. And, um, a lot of people forget that. Um, you know, like you can just buy your plant from, uh, you know, a hardware store or a gardening place or whatever, or sometimes even a grocery store and put it into a pot and then you have say, your basil plant, right? But I always tell people to buy seeds at the same time you buy that plant so you can plant some seeds at the same time. So that way when your, your plant comes to harvest, it's time to harvest it. You still have another one that's coming up to be able to back that up. A good example of that is usually like spinach is a good one to do that with. Um, radish is another one, which is a really quick yielding plant. So you can usually 30 days you can have a full radish growth time as well too. Um, but for lettuces like butter, lettuce and spinach, um, usually if I put a start in I'll also plant seeds at the same time just so it's alternating. Um, and I'll get the most out of those batches as well. So that's not an exact question for you Victoria, but it's really kind of a follow your heart or your stomach if you will, um, and plant what you want to eat and what you're looking forward to. Having to be able to get fresh herbs are wonderful because you can go and grab those anytime you want to mark.
