Question:

When making an omelet with ingredients, what amount is considered adequate for a 3 egg omelet? (Tbsp?)

— Roy L. Cox

Answer:

Yeah. So typically when you're doing about a three-egg omelet, I would probably say about a two to four-tablespoon filling would be appropriate. Now, that kind of depends on the ingredients, though, right? If you're doing mixed vegetables, I think that's probably a good kind of number to look at there. Four tablespoons for three eggs is going to be quite full. But if it's something like cheese that's going to melt down, it's not going to be as much. Four tablespoons is, again, a lot. That's kind of the high end of it. I would say two tablespoons is definitely a little bit more adequate. So if you're doing a mixture of, say, I don't know, an onion, pepper, mushroom combination, I think two to three tablespoons would probably be adequate. You want to sauté those first to get them all browned and everything, get them cooked down, and then put them into your omelet as it's cooking, and you can basically fold it over with those inside. So that's typically the average, two to four tablespoons, about a quarter cup-ish, for the filling for those, kind of depending, again, on what the ingredients are.
