During a three-day session, attendees will learn to identify and minimize food safety risks associated with fresh produce; learn ways to properly spec, order, receive, store, and prepare fresh produce for cost-effectiveness; and learn how to train frontline staff in ordering, receiving, storing, and preparing fresh produce to improve student acceptance.
In September 2025, two in-person Produce Academies are scheduled for Virginia school nutrition directors and purchasing agents participating in the National School Lunch and National School Breakfast Programs.
