Question:
If I’m trying to avoid cholesterol and high fat, am I achieving this by using cashew milk and rare cashew cheese instead? Also what about tahini?
— Linda Marriott
Answer:
I will answer these, uh, questions very lightly, okay? And then, um, you know, if you have further, uh, questions, I would, I would, uh, you know, defer to a nutritionist, um, uh, you know, that sort of be able to answer this in more detail. But, uh, first of all, when it comes to cholesterol, we're not gonna find that in plant-based food products. Um, cholesterol, uh, you know, from the diet, uh, is gonna come from animal-based things. So if you're using cashew milk or you know, cashew cheese, then a dietary cholesterol is not gonna be, uh, a concern. Um, now on the other hand, fat, uh, could be, um, so all these items that you've mentioned, including the tahini, um, are relatively high in fat. And this is where that beautiful mouth feel comes from. And this is where a lot of that flavor is carried, um, around our mouth, uh, to provide that full enjoyment as we bring that product in and, and chew and, and savor, uh, those tastes and flavors. And so there, uh, there is, uh, a good amount of fat, but again, you know, whether that's a concern or not is gonna be specifically up to you and your, your condition. And so, again, I would, uh, you know, bounce, uh, this question off of, um, a healthcare provider, uh, that you work with.
