Question:
I use freezer bags, name and date. Should I double bag it to preserve food better? Or what are the best ways to freeze the food?
— Rosie AIELLO
Answer:
Uh, Rosie, that's gonna be totally up to you. And, and per the decision is gonna be based upon how long you might keep that item in the freezer, as well as how well that freezer bag seals that item. Okay? And, um, you know, you might, uh, do a little bit experimenting to see if, uh, a single bagging, you know, will satisfactorily, uh, hold an item for 30 days or 60 days or, or 90 days or more. Um, in the end, it's up to you. Um, because what changes in the food is the aesthetic characteristics, okay? As I mentioned earlier, um, you're not going to, uh, it's not gonna be food poisoning. It's not gonna be pathogens that are gonna be a concern, rather, it's gonna be some sort of, um, uh, an edible, uh, quality, right? The, uh, an aesthetic quality that's altered. And that's gonna be up to you as to whether you know, you want to eat the product at that point or not. Okay? Thank you. Uh, but generally speaking, you know, airtight right? Is the way to do it, whether it's in a bag or a solid container or something else.
