Question:

What's the difference between tamari and soy sauce? Can they be used interchageably?

— ingrid ortega

Answer:

Yeah, they actually can be used interchangeably. The difference is that soy sauce is typically has some sort of gluten in it and Tamari is a gluten-free product. They're made a little bit differently, but soy sauce typically has the gluten added to it just to be able to get the color and, um, believe the consistency in it as well too. But I do know that Tamari is a gluten-free product. Soy sauce is not, but can they be used interchangeably? Yes, uh, they totally can be used. Um, one for the other and I do it quite often.
