Question:

My husband is not a fan of beans, and I have to avoid the usual acidic reflux triggers. Can you share any suggestions for other ingredients to use? We do use tofu regularly, just looking for some variety.

Answer:

Okay, so sounds like he's not into beans in there like whole form because tofu being a bean itself as well. So, um, if you can do tofu, uh, you might want to try, uh, Tempe as well, but um, you know, you don't have to always go for beans like quinoa we just mentioned is actually a great grain that has a lot of protein in it. Um, I'm a big fan of mushrooms and try to incorporate them into a lot of different meals as well. Um, they give you that umami flavor as well that a lot of people are looking for. Um, but you know, beyond just going to beans, there's a whole variety of different vegetables out there that you can experiment with. Um, you know, going for other kinds of, um, grains might be a good suggestion if you're just trying to get the protein out of those as well too.
