Question:

Is tvp good to use? I sometimes use it when making tacos.

— Toni Crawford

Answer:

TVP is completely a personal preference on people. It's not really a whole food plant-based, um, ingredients because basically what it's, it's typically like a soy product where the fat's been taken out of it. Um, and it's very processed to be able to get it to it. It's a good meat replacer, it's wonderful for that, you know, ground beef, kind of like texture. Um, I don't use it often, but I will use it sometimes for doing taco stuff, but I'll also use it in chili sometime as well. So if you're doing like a, a bean chili and want a little bit more, um, kind of that meatier texture, it's a good thing to kind of throw into it as well and help absorb some of those other flavors. So is it good to use? It depends if you're looking for the kind of texture quality of it, yeah, that's great. Uh, if you're looking for the health benefits of it, you're not gonna get a whole lot of health benefits outta TVP, but um, you know, it's kind of helping to make that bridge over.
