Question:
Do you know of a good source of B-12 for those on a vegan diet?
— Camille Campbell
Answer:
The typical recommendation for the vitamin B12 is going to be a, a supplement, uh, and or fortified foods. And, you know, fortified foods include plant milks, uh, you know, as well as, uh, a number of other foods that have been processed to some extent, uh, with the opportunity, you know, to add B12. Um, nutritional yeast, you know, is a, uh, common source, um, as well. And then, uh, there are some other ingredients that are referenced, uh, as being sources, albeit less consistent or less reliable sources of B12 in the plant world. Uh, that includes shi mushrooms and noori. Noori is a, a type of, uh, sea grass that is common in the Japanese kitchen. And so you might consider, you know, any of those and see how they might fit into, uh, your lifestyle. And then I also recommend, you know, talking to a nutritionist that has a plant-based focus and is gonna be, uh, you know, up to, uh, up, up to date on sort of the latest information on this very important category of nutrition.
