Question:

Do you recommend soaking nuts to remove the phytates to help the nutrient absorption? If so, for how long, which nuts? Is there a good resource to learn more about this?
— Diane Dankert
Answer:
If I am baking something that requires soaked nuts, I will, uh, put them in a bowl and I will cover them to the top with a lukewarm or even warmer than Luke. And then I will cover it and put it in the refrigerator, uh, overnight. And then the next day I will use them in a recipe. If I'm not gonna get to it, I will change the water daily. 'cause I think that's another important thing to do. Um, some pe some people say that when you soak nuts, uh, especially if you're going to take a, we'll, use this, a raw walnut and you're going to soak it, and then you're going to roast it, it's easier to digest. So I have never had that problem, uh, but that is what many pa many, many people claim. So I have given you, uh, an article about, um, soaking nuts from Radiant Life. And the article is actually very good and I enjoyed reading it. So, uh, maybe that is something you'll also enjoy as well.
