Question:

Do you have any thoughts on benefits to occasionally including eggs in vegan/PB diet?

— Emilie Pavilon

Answer:

So, um, you wouldn't be a vegan anymore if you were eating eggs just to kind of throw that out there. Um, you know, and the plant-based diet. So, uh, that is entirely up to you, Emily. A lot of people will do a vegan plant-based diet for ethical reasons. Um, a lot do it for health reasons as well too. Now eggs, uh, typically are a higher in cholesterol as well. And, um, you know, you kind of have to make the decision on your, on yourself for what you're doing, uh, the plant-based lifestyle for, um, if you're doing it for ethical reasons, typically eggs wouldn't be at the top of your list for that just because of, um, the process that takes to be able to get to an egg. Um, meaning that only female chickens lay eggs and the male ones are discarded. Um, you know, if you are talking about, uh, just, just typically in health, I think that's something that, you know, is completely different per person. Um, and the, you know, I always say it's everybody's diet is like a fingerprint and that includes siblings. Like you might have a brother or sister that their body reacts one way to certain things and your body reacts completely different to that and eggs are kind of one of those things. Now, you know, knowing the high cholesterol, it's an eggs, I would probably say it's not the healthiest food for us.
