Question:
I made a fruit salad recently but the bananas and apple flesh turned reddish. It did have strawberries in it, but I added acid (lemon, lime) and wonder if the acid caused the discoloration?

Answer:
Sometimes apple, when it's turning color, it can have like a reddish hue to it, but it's usually a brownish hue. So that's why I think it might be the strawberries that actually just kind of, uh, leached over into that as well. Um, the lemon and lime should have prevented the, um, discoloration of the apple, so that's why I'm, uh, I'm probably guessing it's probably just 'cause discoloration from the strawberries on it.
