I'm enrolled in the Cake Baking and Decorative Arts course on Rouxbe and I notice that there isn't a textbook of my course materials to buy for future reference. Will there be in the future?

Answer

The quick answer would be no. Um, you know, in our courses, uh, we have, uh, the, the lesson and the, the text explanation as well as, uh, uh, video lessons and, uh, video recipes and text recipes that have, uh, an explanation and a demonstration of the key methods and techniques that go into whatever course it is that you take. And, um, you know, therefore, uh, at, at present anyway, we do not have accompanying textbooks because all of that is built into the course, uh, as we, as we construct it. Um, now of course, there are additional books that you can buy that might cover, you know, certain, uh, techniques around baking and cake decorating. And, you know, if you want to inquire about, uh, you know, that topic, please reach out, uh, guess where... at support@rouxbe.com. And I'd be happy to, uh, take this up one-on-one with you, uh, to, uh, dive a little deeper into what your specific interests are, and then provide a, a couple of suggestions on titles that you might consider.

Eric Wynkoop

Director of Culinary Instruction

Eric Wynkoop previously served as a founding faculty member at The International Culinary School, instructor in anthropology at Portland State University, and Senior Instructor at the Le Cordon Bleu program at Western Culinary Institute, in Portland, Oregon. He holds Master’s Degrees in postsecondary education and cultural anthropology, as well as credentials in Ayurveda wellness and cooking. Eric has spent more than twenty years in the food and beverage industry. His experiences include banquet management, catering, personal chef, winery cellar hand, educator, textbook contributor, consultant, and ethnographer. He also brings food and cultural insight from nearly a decade of residence in Japan, studies in Mexico, and research in India as a Fulbright Scholar. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a dual degree in Japanese and Asian Studies, he went on to receive his formal culinary training at Western Culinary Institute, in Portland, Oregon. Eric’s role with Rouxbe is central to enhancing the student experience through quality course content and new course development at Rouxbe. Eric is also the lead instructor in Rouxbe courses, a role which he has enjoyed since 2016.
