What can I do to make broccoli taste better? Any suggestions on seasonings, spices, sauces, etc...?
Answer
So typically, when I'm making broccoli, my kind of go-to for broccoli is I will bake it, basically, do a roast on it. So I might spray a little oil over the top, but I typically am just going to put salt and pepper on it to be able to season it, to be able to bring out that natural flavor on it. If you're looking to make it not taste like broccoli, you can absolutely add other things to it. Some kind of standard traditional things beyond salt and pepper, might be a little bit of red chili flake to that, and then you can go into a wide variety of spices from there, depending on what you're using it for. If you want to go something a little more Moroccan, maybe paprika. You can even go something like a curry if you're doing Indian as well, too. Now, that being said, when I'm making a tofu dish, I might use a little cornstarch on the outside and I bake off the tofu to be able to get that texture on it. Usually afterward, I'm going to toss that tofu with a little bit of the broccoli that I've actually already put in the oven as well, and I'm going to toss that with my sauce, like the Asian sauce of my liking for the day. So it might be something like a general Tso's, or it might be even an orange ginger dressing or something like that as well, too. So, they just pair really well together to be able to make that happen. So I just basically put all of the tofu and the broccoli on the same wok and then toss it with that dressing or the marinade to be able to add a big flavor for it. So it really kind of depends on what you're making for the day and what you're looking for.
