Question:
I have chocolate and cheese cravings and struggling with overeating and slightly binging. What should I eat more of to control this?
— Tokie Williams
Answer:
You know, I would say, you know, if you're having some questions around you're eating patterns and struggling with some questions around overeating, you know, certainly speaking to your health care professional would be a good starting point just to make sure that you're not also experiencing other kinds of stress or anxiety or other things that might manifest itself outside of just that that food component. But I think certainly, you know during the holiday time in particular we're surrounded by a lot of food. It's tempting I get it. I fall prey to that as well. So becomes more of a you know, what do you put in your environment so that when you do have that craving in your really wanting something crispy or salty or sweet or chewy that you have some options at least that might be Good fallbacks for you. For me, you know instead of snacking on. More processed foods or like chips or those sorts of things. I will oftentimes just slice some fruit slice some vegetables I go back to having nuts and seeds which again not low calorie, but From a satisfaction point of view you get a lot of satiation a lot of satisfaction from eating a small amount of those. You can't really just eat them and eat them and eat them you kind of get full the action of a lot of chewing all those things create. That sense of being satisfied from your food. So I find those things really help, you know, that really that kind of mindfulness of chewing and swallowing and having an awareness versus just like shoveling food in I think is one of those key things and things like vegetables and fruits and nuts and seeds just simply don't go down as quickly or as easily as some of those more process type snacks.
