Meet Jacques Pépin

Jacques Pépin is the author of more than 30 cookbooks, host of 13 PBS television series, winner of numerous James Beard Awards, painter, and culinary educator. He has served as personal chef to three French heads of state, including Charles de Gaulle, and is also the recipient of countless accolades, including the American Public Television’s Lifetime Achievement Award and La Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian honor. In 2016, Jacques and his closest family founded the Jacques Pépin Foundation to help individuals who have faced hardship find employment through culinary education. An American Masters film chronicling his life, "Jacques Pépin: The Art of Craft", debuted on PBS in May of 2017. His most recent book, Art of the Chicken, is his celebration both artistic and culinary of the humble bird, and is a New York Times bestseller.

The Jacques Pépin Foundation supports community kitchens that offer free life skills and culinary training to adults with high barriers to employment, including previous incarceration, homelessness, substance abuse issues, low skill and education attainment and lack of work history. We believe that culinary education and the food service industry can provide opportunities and hope for individuals who feel excluded from the workforce.
