Question:
When a recipe calls for 2 cups of nuts soaked overnight, do you mesure the nuts before or after soaking?
— Lilly Boulianne
Answer:
Typically you're gonna measure those nuts dry and then you're gonna just add whatever soaking liquid. And those are gonna swell and you'll likely have probably closer to two and a half, maybe even three cups, um, in the case of like soaking almonds or something like that afterwards. So if it calls for two cups, I would just start with that. It's gonna give you a pretty good approximation. If you find that in your recipe it's too much. You might go back and just make a note and say, Hey, two cups of dry a little bit too much. Next time I make it, I'm gonna do a cup and a half or cup in two thirds or whatever. And that way, you know, um, the next time you make it, you have the proper quantity. Um, but I wouldn't, I wouldn't sweat it. I would just start with two cups and then, uh, just kind of see how it works.
