Do honing steels wear out? Any recommendations for a brand you're especially pleased with?

Yes, they do. Uh, and she goes on to write, uh, mine is many years old and seems too smooth. Any recommendations for a brand that you are especially pleased with? Um, let's see here. Uh, you know, I can't think of, um, brands offhand. You know, I'm, I'm, I'm sure that I've got a, a couple of of German branded products that I've had for a long time. Um, you know, whether it's, uh, OV or, or Henkel or, uh, or something else. Um, you know, I've also used, uh, these honing rods that, um, um, they have a, they're, they're said to have a, a diamond dust adhering to them. Uh, some of them are also ceramic and, um, some of them have a, a, a, a round cross section, and others have kind of a, uh, an almond shaped cross section and, uh, you know, either one, uh, can work fine. Um, but, uh, yeah, I mean, if, if yours is getting smooth and, and it's not doing the job okay, then yeah, feel free to replace that. Um, or if you can maybe just borrow somebody's for about two minutes or even 10 seconds, really, and just try your knife on someone else's newer one or different one to see how it compares with yours. You'll have the answer as to whether yours is worn out or not.
