Question:
How can I maintain the WFPB diet when traveling?
— Chris Chen
Answer:
So, you know, I went to Italy for, um, a week and I ate whole food plant-based, uh, I think I've shared with some of you, uh, that, uh, it was on a 400 year old, um, olive farm where they were olive oil producers. And, uh, olive oil was everywhere. So, um, I decided that it was important to embrace the culture, and I never added any extra oil to my food, but I think that they cooked a little bit with it because they thought it was very, very strange. But in terms of staying whole food plant-based, you're just gonna eat lots of delicious vegetables. You're going to eat salads. And, um, you know, I think everyone now, if you, uh, go online to Instagram and type in 10 best vegan restaurants in the world, London, Italy, Japan, I mean, there's everywhere. So I haven't had, um, you know, anything in the conventional world, uh, for almost 15 years. So I would be afraid of getting sick. So that is why when I travel, uh, I always, uh, you know, I know what to order. I know how to, uh, finagle a menu, uh, call in advance, talk to whomever. If you're staying at somebody's house, it can be easy or it can be hard because you don't wanna insult your hostess, but you can always bring your own oatmeal and do whatever it is that you have to do. But I think it's the will of wanting to just maintain this level of wellness that kind of keeps me motivated. So, um, and I, I try not to use the word diet because that do, that word to me sets up all kinds of, uh, red flares and things like that.
