When selecting a mandolin for purchase, is stainless steel better than plastic?
— Susanne B
Answer:
So I I've used both styles of mandolins. I have to say that you know, the the big stainless steel You know mandolin works. Well, they're quite heavy they're durable, but I would say for most people, you know, there's a Japanese brand mandolin that has a plastic body very high quality blades that you can take out and also very easy to adjust the height, you know, using a guard using the glove that might be for most people the most cost cost effective and best option. I would say since I own both styles of mandolin. And maybe earlier in my career. I was using more of the stainless steel, but more and more just out of convenience or ease of use. My plastic. Japanese mandolin is fantastic. I use it all the time. It's something I use weekly for shaved salads for garnishes. For you know slicing up that cucumber super fast and having it consistent for a pickle those sorts of things.
