Furikake is a Japanese seasoning blend that is typically sprinkled over rice to add more flavor, but you will also see it sprinkled over noodles and salads where it also functions as a visual garnish. There are many varieties of furikake.

4 tbsp white sesame seeds
4 sheets of nori
4" x 6" (10 cm x 15 cm) piece of kombu seaweed
2 tbsp black sesame seeds
1/2 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp white sugar
Toast the sesame seeds in a small pan on low heat for about 8-10 minutes (or until they start to brown a bit).
Remove from heat and let cool while you complete the other steps.
Cut the nori and kombu sheets into the smallest pieces possible using a food processor.
Combine the sesame seeds, seaweed, salt and sugar in a bowl and mix well.
Store in an airtight container in a dark place for up to two months.
